About Apella

Apella Advisors is a business advisory firm that helps organisations grow and succeed using the power of purpose, reputation, and communications.

We use our experience, expertise, and data-led insight to help organisations build, protect, and enhance their reputation. We do this by working with clients to devise and deliver engagement strategies for a broad range of stakeholders and those that influence them, including the media, internal audiences, policymakers, and regulators.

Our services are designed to give our clients the confidence they need to make changes for the better. For a full list of our services, please refer to our website.

What is it like to work for us?

  • We give our people the opportunity to work with high profile and exciting clients, on complex reputational briefs. We operate across a broad range of sectors.

  • We build client teams based on experience, expertise and interests - not hierarchies. We operate as one and draw on thinking from across our organisation to solve problems. We expect our partners to work as closely with our most junior people, as they would with each other.

  • We are a young business and operate a partnership model. New recruits, at all levels, have an opportunity to shape our organisation - from the services we provide to our culture.

  • We set our own direction of travel and choose the right partners to support us as we need them. We think that this helps us deliver the very best results for our clients.

  • We are a responsible business. We exist to help make the world a better place - which flows through who we work with, how we operate and how we treat our people.

 Employment Opportunity

As an Associate, you will provide day-to-day support to partners and directors across Apella’s client base. The role requires someone who can adapt quickly and work across a range of briefs.

Client support will largely depend on our portfolio, but it is likely that you will be working on retained accounts and projects for large clients. These clients could see you:

  • Work alongside senior members of the Apella team to provide corporate communications and reputation consultancy, including crisis communications.

  • Design and activate communications strategies for clients with complex reputational needs, ideally drawing on skills and experience in public affairs, financial communications, data analysis and/or media engagement.

  • Help prepare new business presentations and play a key role delivering pitches.

  • Deliver research that underpins strategy work and provide reputational insight from data.

  • Be part of client-facing teams.

What we’re looking for:

Confidence, a strategic mind, strong-interpersonal skills, natural curiosity, absolute discretion, experience in communications and/or advisory services and a willingness to organise and improve are all essential ingredients to making this role a success.

Knowledge / Skills

  • Experience using data and insight to develop or activate communications programmes.

  • Confidence in and experience of working with senior business leaders.

  • Strong communication skills, excellent at writing and storytelling across a range of briefs, from content to client presentations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and build relationships with clients, prospects, partners, and other members of the Apella team.

Background / Experience

  • At least one year’s relevant industry experience in a client facing role, for example, advising clients in public affairs, corporate communications and/or financial communications.

  • Experience of managing account activity to a high standard.

  • Experience being involved in new business activity, i.e., pitching or helping to prepare new business document.

 Key Responsibilities

  •  Management of day-to-day client activity, in line with agreed scopes of work.

  • Working closely with senior members of the Apella team and clients to deliver.

  • Supporting senior members of the team in the development of strategy and planning.

  • New business pitch preparation.

  • Playing an active role in new business activity and marketing.
